When you want to create change in your life or in your heart…
When you want to create change in your life or in your heart, you become an explorer first.
You take in enormous amounts of information, and you keep looking for different perspectives.
But eventually, there comes a moment when you don't need more information or more time.
You've discovered a few decent options. Now you need to decide.
You have to switch from explorer to leader.
That is, you have to lead yourself.
Stop continuing to wrestle with different perspectives.
Stop changing course constantly.
Pick one destination and cut out the other options.
"Here is where I'm going.
This is why I'm going there.
This is how I'll do it.
Let's go."
Explain your plan clearly and simply so it's easy to remember.
Move straight in one direction.
Don't waver with stubborn resolve, and don't get distracted by other things.
Even if your inner explorer says
"What if we try something else?"
ignore that voice.
"Finding possibilities requires an open mind, but after you choose, you shouldn't keep all possibilities open—you need to lead yourself in one direction."
Once you reach your destination, you can start exploring again.
