What Success Means to Me
When I close my eyes at the moment of death, I want to tell myself: "I lived without regret," "this was a successful life," "I have no lingering wishes." How should I live to make that possible?
Q. What does a "successful" life mean to me?
A. If someone's life became better because of me, and I felt boundless joy in that—wouldn't that be a successful life?
How should I live each day going forward?
I constantly
observe myself. I try to understand properly.
observe the world. I recognize something as a problem.
I ask the questions that arise in me to the world.
I listen and analyze the responses. I observe again.
I explore where I can make things better or contribute.
I form a hypothesis and test it with the world.
I listen to feedback and change my existing approach or try something better.
I repeat 1 through 5 every day without stopping, until I die.
